I can hardly believe this sweet little squishy baby boy turned 2 yesterday! (que mommy’s tears now)

My sweet boy who is now a bubbly, handsome big boy sweetly didn’t even care about all the fuss mommy and sissy were making over his special day yesterday! In true Cove like smile he just smiled as people wished him happy birthday and when asked who’s birthday it was he would just hold up two fingers as to tell you he knows he is now 2! (even though he likes to tell people he is three – he just likes to be like his big sister) Birthdays are a funny thing for mommys! A day of sweet remembrance and yet sadness as the years seem to go speeding bye! I can’t believe he is already two, and it feels like he is no longer my baby (although he will always be my baby as will his sisters) but in some ways he has seemed like he has been 2 for awhile! He loves to keep up with his big sister and I have loved watching him in his new role the past 3 months as a big brother! Since daddy had to be away (again) for his birthday this year we decided to throw his party last weekend and make it a Halloween theme! My sweet boy tends to be shy and gets clingy to mommy (not that I mind) in large crowds so we kept the party to family and close friends and my boy loved it! He of course was spoiled by all the people that love him so much he was happy to just receive one gift of course big sister was another story! (You remember I told you she is a bit dramatic!) This was also the first year that my babies actually got what Halloween was about and they love to dress up so for weeks now I have been asking what they wanted to dress up as and of course my boy wanted to be a pirate. Now big sister I thought for sure would want to be a princess and we even purchased a new princess dress but surpassingly she asked to be a girl pirate.. thats right now a pirate but specifically a girl pirate. Well mommy had to learn that Jake and Neverland has a girl pirate Izzy and that indeed is who our big girl went as! Of course my sweet babies wouldn’t really cooperate for a photo but when you have 3 kids 3 and under that isn’t really that surprising. Lets not forget our sweet baby girl who went as the crocodile and brother and sister picked the costume out for her and everything. Mommy more envisioned a unicorn or an owl maybe an angel something sweet like she is but I wanted my babies to be happy so crocodile it was and she was a mighty cute – not at all scary – one!

For my sweet boys party I decided right off the bat that I wanted to do a chilli themed meal. Usually in November we have cold temperatures and even some snow… this year of course has been different but when I started brainstorming this party back in August I didn’t know that. I knew I wanted to have bread bowls to put the chilli in but do you think I could find them anywhere!? I called a couple local bakeries and they simply had no idea what I was talking about. I toyed with the idea of making them but who am I kidding I have no time for that let alone know the first thing about making bread – thankfully hubby asked the owner of one of his favourite lunch places and she had been thinking about making them for her deli and so she was happy to give it a try and they turned out pretty cool and our guests loved them! No party is complete without super cute cookies and of course I would love to take credit for them but Sarah once again out did herself. I told her what I was looking for and she came up with the super cute cookies and they tasted so good too! The kids and I tried a Pinterest diy that I would say was a fail (I plan to blog about that later) but they got eaten and the kids had a lot of fun making them so I guess it wasn’t a complete fail although in my opinion they looked nothing like they did on Pinterest! (hate when that happens lol) We sent all our little guest home with gift cards to Chapters Indigo since that is one of my little mans favourite stores! And sadly with all the beautiful chaos that happens at a party with little people I missed the opportunity to take a picture of all the kids dressed up but trust me when I say they were the cutest little clown, pirate, dog, police officer, super heroes, princesses, dragon you ever did see!
